T - trusting that slowing down and taking moments to pause to appreciate the moment has higher value than running to the next thing on your to-list. It’s so easy for me to be like Martha in the Bible and work away believing that I’m serving those around me or doing what I’ve been asked to do. But, it was Mary who knew what was important in the moment and stopped to be with her guests. May I be able to discern when to work and when to just be present.
G - Grateful for the quality time we got to spend with family, cooking together, eating together, and playing games together. Family is the most precious thing and there will never be enough time, I’m thankful that I could take a few days off work to enjoy the gift of their presence.
I - inspired by a quote from Henry Miller, “The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.” I like to dream, I’m a creative, I can have a wild imagination when I let it loose and this quote inspired me to do so more often. Why do we stop ourselves from investigating this intricate and awe-inspiring world? As a kid I would always ask “but why?” and understandably so after several minutes of me pestering an adult would usually end it by saying “because I said so.” I think as adults we need to be better with saying “I don’t know” and marvel in the unknown, the unexplainable. We need to allow ourselves so be so overwhelmed by creation that we are fascinated by it’s depth. There’s so much to explore in this world, go out and let it amaze you!
F - for fun we watched an old movie called “The Thing” outside by the fire and then followed it up by playing a board game based on the movie.
Someday I will take the time to read about Henry Miller time in Big Sur . In 1968 Jeanne and I stayed in the Big Sur prior to my tour in Vietnam
Beautiful picture!
